We are our choices. Build yourself a great story.

-Jeff Bezos, Amazon Founder

The Universal Stylus Pen. The respondents are composed of students and still have a problem regarding how they will manage and do their academic tasks, especially now that we adapt to the new normal where technology is growing a course. For the seventh week and the Last week for our blog, we incorporate our learnings from a lecture series into our blog. A lecture was presented by Ms. Gamaleila A. Dumancas entitled; The intellectual property rights and Technology Transfer, and Ms. Rhea Mae D. Cunada, a member of Musuan Peak Incubator team, shares her insights about Commercializing your startup.

The third series discusses an overview of intellectual property and intellectual property rights. It highlights how important it is putting protection to intellectual property. Putting a trademark on your products will make it easy to distinguish against other competitors’ products. It also makes the product have a geographical indication. Ms. Gina also stated the different terms of protection that a product/business may avail, like the Terms of protection for TM, which is valid for ten years. Term of Protection for Invention, valid for 20 years. Terms of protection for UM, valid for seven years. Terms of Protection for Lay-out, valid for ten years. MS. Gena also gives importance to copyrights and related rights, which is undoubtedly beneficial to our products. Ms. Gina mentioned that it has a Life + 50 yrs after death protection. Ms. Gina also discussed patents, and how to ensure the product that you create is patentable.

All of this information will significantly help us, Future Innovators. We will know our rights to protect our products and avoid violation if ever we make a startup. As our stylus pen is already available to the market, all we have to do is research more about the product, observe and make changes to make it more unique; the best thing to do is make a patent search to ensure that our product is patentable.

Ms. Rhea Mae D. Cunada gave the fourth series. Discuss the Musuan Peak Incubator as PEAK symbolize its goal, P for Product Commercialization, E for Enterprise Development, A for Access to Networks, and K for Knowledge Transfer. In the future, if we manage to join the team as an Incubatee, it would be a privilege to be transformed into a sustainable and successful business. Our Universal Stylus Pen already has a clear Business Model Canvass, also known as BMC. It will be the basis of our product, the blueprint of our Business. In the future, if ever given a chance, the Business would like to become an Incubatee and harness the competencies of our Business and become a more successful entrepreneur.

This startup journey is one of the remarkable memories for me during this pandemic time; creating a business is not easy; I learned a lot from every speaker who shares their business insights. The experience that they share before they become successful. Tips and knowledge about how you manage a business. Strategy and how teamwork is essential in starting a business. All of this inspires me as a Business Student to learn and study more to succeed in the future. If given a chance to join more of this lecture series, I would grab it.

I am looking forward to more knowledge that CMU will give to me.
